Kyle Gundersen is a NAMS - Associate Marine Surveyor.
Bringing more than 30 years of professional experience across yacht operations, management, and international marine logistics. His surveying practice is built on a deep technical foundation developed through decades of hands-on work with private yachts, high-performance racing vessels, and complex marine systems.
As a NAMS associate yacht and small craft surveyor and ABYC Certified Advisor, Kyle specializes in condition and valuation surveys, pre-purchase assessments, and technical inspections of sailing and power vessels. His expertise includes hull and structural evaluation, mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems analysis, safety and compliance review, and construction and refit oversight. This practical, systems-level background allows him to identify deficiencies, assess risk, and provide clear, actionable reporting for owners, buyers, insurers, and lenders.
Kyle has logged over 70,000 nautical miles through transoceanic deliveries and offshore racing and has served as captain, manager, and technical lead for vessels ranging from 40 to 170 feet. His experience includes yacht acquisition and sales support, lifecycle yacht management, and performance optimization—insight that directly informs his survey work and strengthens his ability to represent client interests objectively.
In addition to private practice, Kyle has held senior operational roles in globally recognized sailing events including SailGP and America’s Cup 34 and 35, where precision, safety, and accountability were paramount. He holds a USCG 100-Ton Master license with sailing endorsement and is a NOLS Wilderness First Responder.
Kyle’s surveying approach is thorough, independent, and technically grounded, providing clients with accurate assessments and confidence in critical marine decisions.
